Hamburg-based artist Korbinian Scheffold has released several cassettes with his solo project Konstantin Unwohl in recent years. In 2021, he released his debut album Im Institut für Strömungstechnik on the Berlin label aufnahme + wiedergabe. On this album, he perfected his musical style; a mixture of minimalist darkwave and contemporary synth-pop. 

The new single Eine Träne, kein Rekrut is taken from his upcoming album Neuer Wall which will be released on 26 July at Tapete Records.

Hailing from a place of ancient mariners' secret coves and vast moors beaten by the wind and rain, Backwater Collage is James Hoare's first solo album under the name of Penny Arcade. You have most probably come across his washed-out blue eyes several times, in projects including Veronica Falls, The Proper Ornaments and Ultimate Painting.

Similar to Jack Name or Syd Barrett – only less psychedelic – in terms of songwriting and stripped back atmosphere, Hoare is sitting on the Velvet Underground's black-and-white sofa and gives his album a subterranean feel. At times restless but light-footed, deprived of any unnecessary effects, the record follows in the steps of a less noisy but just as raw and unadorned Jesus and Mary Chain.

Those who have a decent political compass could not have missed out on the political winds blowing the past years, all over the world in general and in Europe specifically. What once used to be is no more, and we who have grown up in a context characterized by a positive attitude in general to solidarity, immigration, equality and generosity still cant believe what is happening.
Each month passing by, new low levels are reached by people who call themselves both democrats and politicians. Obviously there are different perspectives on what to focus on when strengthening the pillars of a democratic society. Right now we are seeing a growing nationalism, the spread of racism and bizarre conspiracy theories.
At the same time there is a strong tendency of dismantling libraries, study associations, union rights, cultural schools, as well as continuous attacks on civil rights, the LGBT society, Muslims, Jews - you name it. Polarization is growing and its quite obvious to us who are feeding it.

Calling Them Out is HELLSONGS musical response to all that. Let’s at least be honest, no matter how nice suits you wear - fascism/racism always stinks.

2024 marks 40 years of Pete Astor making records, a suitable anniversary point at which to take stock and double back on songs that first appeared on records by Astor-fronted combos such as Creation Records trailblazers The Loft and The Weather Prophets and Matador recording artists The Wisdom of Harry, as well as selections from solo albums that appeared on labels such as Danceteria and Static Caravan.
